Call for Proposals: Paris Center Research Residencies

The Vice President for Global Strategy invites faculty at the university to submit proposals for short-term research stays at the Rice Global Paris Center. This program is designed to facilitate international collaboration and provide a home base for scholarly work in France.

We are offering faculty members the opportunity to utilize the Paris Center as a hub for their research activities, for durations of 1 week to 1 semester. Support includes:

  • Workspace: Access to basic office space at the Paris Center

  • Housing: Availability of a studio/efficiency apartment in the 13th Arrondissement (Butte-aux-Cailles neighborhood) at a subsidized rate. Please note: Housing is subject to availability and depends strictly on the timing of the visit.

Support does not include travel or living expenses. Proposals should focus on research-driven activities, including but not limited to:

  • Primary source research in French archives or libraries.

  • Site visits and collaborative work with French colleagues.

  • Strategic meetings to deepen institutional research partnerships.

How to Apply

Interested faculty should email global@rice.edu for a short application form.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please include your preferred dates and a brief description of your research objectives in your initial inquiry. As part of the application process, Paris Center staff will meet with you to provide more information about our Paris Center, answer your questions, and highlight any relevant details such as any limits to the availability of housing or office space during the requested period.

We look forward to seeing you in Paris!
