Call for Proposals: Faculty Conferences and Research Meetings at the Rice Global Paris Center

The Vice President for Global Strategy invites faculty, departments, and schools to submit proposals for the forth year of programming at the Rice Global Paris Center. We welcome ideas that further the strategic goals of the University, a School, or a Department through research collaborations, international workshops, or by solidifying partnerships in Europe.

Deadline to submit proposal: Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 5:00PM*

Submit your proposal using the Rice Global Conference/Research Meeting Proposal online form in InfoReady (requires Rice NetID login).

* Please submit your proposal by 5:00 PM on August 15; if you hit submit right before midnight (or even several hours before), InfoReady will not accept it.

Department Chair Approval Requirement: You will be prompted to request approval from your Department Chair directly within the InfoReady online webform. The approval request is configured to automatically set a deadline of one week from the proposal submission date.

  • If you are a department chair submitting a proposal, please obtain approval from your Dean.
  • Department Chairs/Deans will also be able to log into InfoReady with their NetID to complete the approval.
  • Please make sure they complete the approval on time as your proposal will not be considered without it!

Guidelines

  • Proposals should be for research conferences, workshops, summits, and substantial meetings for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027.

  • Because of the high demand, we give priority to:

    • Teams of faculty
    • Proposals with international partners
    • Proposals aligned with the research priorities of Momentous
    • Proposals with matching funding, or proposals seeking additional funding
  • Proposed convenings should span three days or fewer.

  • Travel to the Paris Center and lodging in Paris is not awarded. Upon award, if not before, applicants are encouraged to seek additional funding from their departments, schools, institutes, or other sources for travel to the center and lodging while in Paris.

  • When preparing their proposals, applicants are advised to consult the Rice Global Paris Center Facilities page to familiarize themselves with the Paris Center’s location and capacity, and to appropriately plan their budgets, accommodation needs, catering needs, etc.

    • The Rice Global Paris Center will host the majority of projects and convenings; if the number of participants is large or requires an auditorium space, however, your project may use a number of nearby partner spaces in and around the Marais. This will also have an impact on the overall budget.

Timeline
