Rice Global India Joint Faculty Research Awards

Objective: To promote joint research collaborations focused on new partnerships.
Resources: awards of up to $20,000
Deadline: Applications accepted on a rolling basis, no deadlines
Eligibility: Full-time tenure and tenure-track faculty members at Rice

Rice University’s Joint Faculty Research Awards support collaborative projects between Rice faculty and researchers from any leading institutions in India to advance innovation across diverse fields. These grants are designed to tackle pressing global challenges by enabling strategic academic partnerships. By promoting joint research efforts, the program supports the delivery of solutions with global impact. These awards are focused on early-stage collaboration or starting newly identified collaborations.

• Award decision within one month of submission
• Funds available on given start date of funded project
• Projects should conclude one year from given start date
• No extensions will be granted
• Final reports are due 2 weeks after the project concludes

• Early-stage collaborations, or new collaborations with faculty members at ANY Indian universities or research organizations, that would benefit from a year-long infusion of research support.
• Clear desired outcomes.
• Preference for joint funding from Indian co-PI/institution or other sources (internal or external)
• All disciplines considered.

Proposals will be reviewed, and award decisions communicated within one month of submission.
