Request for Proposals: Paris Center Faculty Conferences and Research Meetings
Request for Proposals: Paris Center Faculty Conferences and Research Meetings
The Vice President for Global invites faculty, departments, and schools to submit proposals for the fourth year of programming at the Rice Global Paris Center. We welcome ideas that further the strategic goals of the University, a School, or a Department through research collaborations, international workshops, or by solidifying partnerships in Europe. A description of 2024-2025 activities can be found here.
Instructions:
Submit your proposals to global@rice.edu, including the following (found in the Rice Global Paris documentation Box folder):
- Completed short PROPOSAL TEMPLATE
- Completed BUDGET TEMPLATE
- A letter of support from your department chair or dean.
Guidelines
- Successful applicants will demonstrate how their project aligns with the strategic priorities of their school, department, or institute. We strongly encourage teams of two or more faculty members.
- Schools, departments, and institutes are welcome to propose a series of events/conferences that further unit and university priorities.
- Travel to the Center and lodging in Paris are not generally awarded. Upon award, if not before, applicants are encouraged to seek additional funding from their departments, schools, institutes, or other sources for travel to the center and lodging while in Paris.
- Conferences with international co-conveners or collaborators are encouraged.
- When preparing their proposals, applicants are advised to consult the Rice Global Paris documentation Box folder, which presents the Center and various associated guideline documents to familiarize themselves with the Center’s location and capacity, and to appropriately plan their budgets, accommodation needs, catering needs, etc.
The Rice Global Paris Center will host the majority of projects and convenings; however, if the number of participants is large or requires an auditorium space, your project may use a number of nearby partner spaces in and around the Marais. This will also have an impact on the overall budget.
Timeline:
Proposal deadlines - the deadline for this round of proposals will be September 6, 2025. Proposals should be for research conferences, workshops, summits, and substantial meetings for Spring 2026, Summer 2026, and Fall 2026.
Decisions for this RFP will be made by the faculty Global Education Advisory Committee in late September/early October 2025.
Future RFPs are planned for May each year. Off-cycle submissions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to funding availability.
