International Travel Resources
Policy 852 Requirements
Rice University's international travel policy requires all Rice-affiliated international travel to be registered and conducted safely. It applies to travel funded by the university, as part of the curriculum, sponsored by university groups, or representing the university.
For more details, visit the Policy 852 Guidance page.
Under Policy 852, all university-affiliated international travel must be registered at https://travelregistry.rice.edu.
All Rice-affiliated travel must be registered with Rice's travel assistance provider (currently International SOS). When you register your trip at https://travelregistry.rice.edu, Rice Global will automatically add your itinerary to International SOS; no additional action is required on your part.

Travel Insurance through Rice:
Rice University maintains a travel insurance policy that covers Rice travelers in a wide variety of situations!
Before you buy travel insurance for your Rice-affiliated trip, check Rice's Travel Insurance Brochure (requires Box login) to see what benefits you're eligible for as a Rice traveler.
As part of Rice's travel insurance program, Rice also maintains a contract with a global travel assistance provider; this provider is currently International SOS (through 31 August 2025).
Please note that Rice will change providers from International SOS to Crisis24, effective 1 September 2025. More information on this change is forthcoming.
