Objective: To help Rice University faculty identify additional funding opportunities with multi-national agencies and provide support in the development and finalization of grant proposals.
Resources: Awards of up to $50,000, if applicable.
Deadline: Requests accepted on a rolling basis, no deadlines
Eligibility: Full-time tenure and tenure-track faculty members at Rice.

Purpose

The RGI Supplemental Grant support increases the likelihood of securing impactful, funded collaborations with Indian institutions and researchers. These collaborations offer an opportunity to extend Rice’s research capabilities in India and allows Rice faculty to align their projects with global priorities, addressing pressing challenges in areas such as sustainability, energy, healthcare, and technology. By building deeper connections with Indian researchers and institutions, Rice not only expands its research footprint but also enhances its reputation as a leader in generating solutions with global significance. The program amplifies the university’s ability to drive transformative research outcomes, making a lasting impact in India and beyond, while inspiring future partnerships and innovation.

Criteria

  • Support requests must be submitted no less than 2 months before grant submission is due.
  • Support targeting external grants, prioritizing:
    • Research aligned with Momentous
    • External grants with high impact

Support Provided

  • Grant and collaborator identification support.
  • Pre-grant submission travel for co-PIs.
  • Pre-grant/post-grant conference/workshop travel and logistics support.
  • Indian grad student/travel stipends to account for US cost of living.
  • Additional requests considered based on funds available.

Review Process

Requests will be reviewed, and any monetary award decisions communicated within one month of submission.
