Information and Expression of Interest

 

Expression of Interest: Fall Semester 2026

Deadline to submit an expression of interest: October 6, 2025
Who may submit: Tenured, tenure-track, and full-time teaching faculty (with dean and department chair approval).

Step 1: Expression of Interest (Required)

Faculty interested in teaching in the Paris Fall Semester should submit an expression of interest (EOI) by the deadline.

Your submission must include:

  • Two proposed courses you would like considered
  • A short (2–3 sentence) description of each course
  • Please ask your department chair to send a brief email to pariscenter@rice.edu confirming their support and approval of your expression of interest for your courses. The email should come directly from your chair.

    All EOIs will be reviewed by a committee that includes deans. Selected faculty will then be invited to submit a full application.

Submission instructions:

  • Email your expression of interest to pariscenter@rice.edu with the subject line: Paris Fall 2026 – Expression of Interest.
  • Attach your course descriptions in a single PDF.
  • Ask your department chair to send their approval email to pariscenter@rice.edu by the deadline.

Step 2: Full Application (By Invitation Only)

Faculty invited to proceed will receive detailed guidance on preparing a full application. For planning purposes, here is an overview of what will be expected:

What You’ll Need (application materials)

  • Confirmation of both dean and department chair approval (emailed directly to pariscenter@rice.edu)
  • A draft or recent syllabus for each proposed course
  • Prepared responses to:
    • Course description
    • How Paris will be integrated into the course
    • Space & technology needs
    • Course-related supplies or costs
    • Opportunities for local collaboration

Course Expectations

  • Two 3-credit courses taught in Paris during the fall term
  • Each course should fulfill a distribution requirement

Timeline (Fall 2026 Teaching)

  • Expression of interest deadline: October 6, 2025
  • Decisions (invitation to apply): mid-October 2025
  • Full application deadline (invited faculty only): Late October/Early November
  • Final decisions communicated: early November 2025
  • Student application launch: Fall 2025
  • Faculty–Paris Center kick-off: late November / early December 2025
  • Planning meetings: Spring 2026
